Story

For 500 years, wild horses originally brought over from Spain have adapted to surviving on the unique coastal landscape of the Outer Banks of North Carolina. In 1926, National Geographic reported between five and six thousand horses along the entire coastline. Now, pushed to the far ends of its beaches as development continues, the Banker horses of Corolla are recognized by the Equus Survival Trust as critically endangered, but properly managed. As a non-profit, the Corolla Wild Horse Fund depends on the generosity of people like you to carry out its mission to protect, conserve, and responsibly manage this historic and culturally significant herd.
