Story
Please help me support the YMCA of Greater San Antonio by making a donation through my personal giving page.
Let me just start by saying the YMCA is an amazing organization. My journey with the YMCA began when I was 10 years old. Every summer I looked forward to attending summer camp. The Y was a place I felt safe and helped me build my self confidence. I learned to swim, horseback ride, and make friends. The experience made such an impact on me that during college I returned and worked as a camp leader, engaging children with activities, then later I became a Camp Director.
After college I accepted the position of Chronic Disease Coordinator. I coached cancer survivors and supported them in reclaiming their health through the LIVESTRONG program. As a Diabetes Prevention facilitator I helped at-risk adults reduce their chances of developing type 2 diabetes.Today I work as the Active Older Adult (AOA) Coordinator for Mays Family YMCA at Potranco. I teach AOA group exercises classes, hoping to improve participants seniors' quality of life, independence, and happiness. I plan weekly activities with the goal to foster a sense of community and build lasting bonds.
These are just a few examples of the impactful programs the YMCA offers. Your gift will go directly to support our neighbors in need to participate in life-changing and often times, life-saving programs.
Remember, donations are tax-deductible.Thanks so much for your support.
