Story
The YMCA of Greater Houston is committed to providing critical support and services to survivors of human trafficking through its Trafficked Persons Assistance Program (TPAP). This program is designed to serve both minors and adults who have been subjected to labor and sex trafficking, offering them a path toward safety, recovery, and empowerment.
The TPAP program serves a diverse group of individuals, including 140 trafficking survivors who suffered labor and sex trafficking. Using a trauma-informed approach, our program recognizes the profound impact of trauma on survivors and tailors services accordingly. Through financial and legal assistance, social integration, community support, and advocacy for healthcare, victims of trafficking are given a sense of hope for the future.
In addition to these critical services, TPAP supports the educational needs of child survivors through Operation Backpack, a community initiative that provides brand-new backpacks filled with school supplies. By contributing to Operation Backpack, you help ensure TPAP children are equipped and confident as they return to school, reinforcing their sense of normalcy and stability.
This vital work is made possible by the generosity of our donors. Please consider a donation to help make a significant difference in the lives of human trafficking survivors.
