Help Build the Nkosinatsi Footbridge and Save Lives in Eswatini!
This October, I am joining a team of volunteers with Engineers in Action on a mission to build a life-changing footbridge in a remote community in Eswatini, and I need your help to make it happen.
A Community in Need
For the communities of Madlenya and Ngcamphalala, the Mhlathuzana River becomes a dangerous and often impassable barrier during the rainy season. When the river floods, it cuts off access to essential resources, including:
Schools: Children are unable to attend school, including the Siphofaneni High School.
Healthcare: Access to vital health services is cut off.
Markets & Economic Opportunity: Farmers can't get to markets to sell their crops, and people can't get to work.
Tragically, in the last three years, three people have died and three have been injured while attempting to cross the dangerous, flooded river.
Our Solution: The Nkosinatsi Footbridge
The Nkosinatsi Footbridge will provide safe, year-round access for the community. This project will directly serve approximately 900 people, including 500 children and 250 women of child-bearing age. It will also improve access for a broader population of nearly 3,500 residents in the surrounding area. By providing a permanent and safe crossing, we can ensure that no one has to risk their life to get to school, work, or the doctor.
Your Support Matters
Your donation will help us purchase the necessary building materials and tools to make the Nkosinatsi Footbridge a reality. Together, we can provide a safe and reliable connection for this community, strengthening livelihoods and ensuring access to essential services for years to come.
Thank you for your support!
