IT'S OVER!
THANK YOU SO MUCH TO EVERYONE WHO DONATED AND SUPPORTED IN OTHER WAYS.
Most people will be affected by cancer at some point in their lives, whether directly or indirectly. As a doctor, I see the enormous impact the sort of support Macmillan provides every single day.
To support that work, this March I’m taking on a HYROX - a tough fitness race which will mean mixing 1km runs with a series of torturous other exercises to make your legs really burn before you have to then run another kilometer.
To get myself ready I will be training 4 to 5 times per week - gym at 6am and runs in the cold and wet.
I'm really proud of getting to the point of committing to this challenge. 2 years ago I could not run 1km without stopping and my BMI was over 30. But I kept showed up regularly with a fabulous support team and made myself accountable. I cut back booze and counted calories lots, but not all, of the time. So far I'm 2 stone lighter. This was about sustainable change and not torture....
Hyrox....on the other hand...
Please make my suffering worth it and consider donating to this great charity.
📖 £10 could pay for 10 copies of our Help with the cost of cancer booklet.
📱 £20 could provide one session of emotional support to a person living with cancer with a Macmillan Buddy.
💚 £39 could pay for a Macmillan Nurse for 1 hour.
There are currently over 3.5 million people living with cancer in the UK today. It's Macmillan's goal to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, but they can’t do this without donations from people like you.
Thank you!
