Swansea Walk of Light 2025 In Aid Of Blood Cancer UK

Jonathan Burnes is raising money for Blood Cancer UK

Swansea Walk of Light 2025 · 29 March 2025 ·

We walk to keep the memory of our loved ones burning bright. We walk to shine a ray of hope for someone as they face their darkest moments. We walk to light the path for a brighter future.

Story

The Burnes’ are taking part in Swansea’s Walk of Light event to raise awareness and funds for vital research into blood cancer, the fifth most common cancer in the UK.

We will be doing the 5km walk on March 29th along the picturesque Swansea Bay promenade, the Walk of Light in aid of Blood Cancer UK.

We are participating in support of Swansea City Council’s Chief Executive, Martin Nicholls, who had chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) – a blood cancer himself, is organising the event. Diagnosed in July 2020, Martin navigated his journey through the challenges of the pandemic, undergoing treatment while working full-time. Now in remission, he is dedicated to giving back.

Around 40,000 people are diagnosed with blood cancer each year. As the sun sets, we will walk together and shine a light on blood cancer.
