Every year approximately 100,000 people will have a stroke in the UK and a quarter of these will happen to people of working age or younger and it is the single biggest cause of disability. Different Strokes is the only charity dedicated to younger stroke survivors to provide active peer support through information, advice and rehabilitation services.

MY STORY -

Hello, I am Josh! Three months ago, I unfortunately had a shock Stroke at the young age of 31. It turned my life upside down and still currently is as I recover and learn how it has effected me.

The Different Strokes charity is the first place I called after my OT had recommended them and gave me a leaflet. A lovely lady from the charity spoke with me and gave me so much of her time. I was lost and scared but after the call, I felt positive that I was not alone in my Struggles.

I used to be a very sporty person, so doing this Abseil is massive for me. I have not built up the courage yet, to run or go and try to play football as I am so scared that I just won't be the same or even be able to run. It is amazing to raise a bit of money in the process for Different Strokes. A charity I will move forward supporting, trying to re-pay the support they have given to me.

Because my Stroke happened pretty recently, I am a bit late to the Charity Abseil day. Please if you can spare anything in this tough time, I would really appreciate your support.
