Story

When Every Door Closed, St. Joseph’s Opened Theirs

“Delaney’s story isn’t just one of survival—it’s a testament to the power of hope, healing, and human connection.”

As a brand new mom, hearing the words “your baby has cancer” was the most shocking moment of my life—but it wasn’t the worst. The worst was being told there were no more options. That my daughter, Delaney, who had just beaten the nearly impossible odds against stage IV high-risk neuroblastoma, would live with irreversible damage—and no hospital was equipped to help her.

She was only 3 months old when we were thrust into a nightmare.

After two and a half brutal years of treatment, her cancer was declared “No Evidence of Disease.”

But the very treatment that saved her life also left behind a storm of lasting damage—chronic pain, multiple organ damage, a feeding tube, hearing loss, and the inability to attend school.

We were left holding the pieces. And no one seemed able—or willing—to help us put her back together.

Until we found St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital.

What started as a visit for pain management became so much more. They embraced Delaney—and us—with open arms and hearts. They didn’t just offer treatments. They offered hope. Through a unique and holistic approach—acupuncture, massage, music therapy, essential oils, play therapy, child life, and so much more—Delaney began to feel joy again. Dignity. Comfort.

At St. Joseph’s, she isn’t just a patient. She’s Delaney. She’s greeted by name, given fist bumps by security guards, and complimented on her outfits by front desk staff. She looks forward to her appointments because they make her feel better—not just physically, but emotionally. Spiritually.

This hospital didn’t just help Delaney feel better. They reminded us what it feels like to belong.

When other hospitals gave up, St. Joseph’s gave us hope.

There are countless other children like Delaney—kids who need more than treatment. They need people who see them, hear them, and fight for them. That’s why I’m asking you to support St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital. Your gift isn’t just a donation—it’s a lifeline. It’s a promise that no child or family has to walk through their hardest days alone.

Because when you give to St. Joseph’s, you’re not just giving to a hospital. You’re investing in a child’s future. In a family’s strength. In hope.

And there’s nothing more powerful than that.
