Brain Tumours are classed as a rare cancer, and I had never really heard about them or the effect they have before 24 March 2022 when we were told my beautiful mum Deb, had a Grade 4 Glioblastoma. We had no idea what this meant but very quickly we learnt that this was an incredibly aggressive cancer and there was no cure.
Mums tumour wasn’t operable and all that was available to her was radiotherapy and chemotherapy, a standard of care that hasn’t changed in over 30 years. It was a death sentence.
Mum died on 16 February 2023, less than 11 months after she first was diagnosed. It took everything from her and she suffered. It is hard to remember those times now and I choose to remember her smiling and laughing as she always was.
We have to do more, we have to do more so that it will not always be a death sentence and so other families don’t have to go through what we went through.
I love you mum, I’m “Doing it for Debs ❤️”
