Story
Building a World with Essential Infrastructure for All
Every year I reach out for support, and every year you’ve stepped up. I am truly grateful. Since 2013 I have been working with Engineers in Action because I have seen with my own eyes how a single bridge or a reliable water source can completely change the daily reality of a community. This year those moments of impact felt more powerful than ever.
In July I helped lead construction of the first student led suspension bridge project in Eswatini. This has been a personal goal for years and something our CEO and I have been trying to make possible since 2017. Watching students from Cornell, University College London, and the University of Southern Indiana work shoulder to shoulder with the community was incredible. When the bridge opened the reaction was overwhelming. A safe path to school, healthcare, and markets was restored in a single moment. The pride and gratitude on people’s faces is something I will never forget.
I will also be putting my geology and drilling background to use by supporting our WASH team in bringing a Village Drill to Eswatini and will be helping train our in-country staff. This means more families will gain access to clean and reliable water.
2026 will be just as meaningful. Because of the work we did with students in 2025, in 2026 there will be 3 student-led suspension bridges completed in Eswatini. I will also be supporting two staff led bridge builds in Eswatini that include our first steel deck bridge and a hybrid design that blends suspension and suspended elements. I will also likely be helping train our developing team in Peru.
Across Bolivia, Eswatini, Ecuador, and Peru, Engineers in Action built 32 bridges and WASH systems this year. More than 32,000 people now have safer access to school, healthcare, markets, and clean water. These projects are more than structures. They represent dignity, opportunity, safety, and hope.
It takes only $50 to change one life. Fifty dollars helps a child get to school safely, allows a mother to reach healthcare year round, or gives a family clean water for the first time. If you can give, please do. If you can share this message, even better. Your support has carried me and this mission for years, and together we can make 2026 our most impactful year yet.
