Dr. Coffman is a physician scientist who clinically cares for women with ovarian cancer and who runs a laboratory focused on mechanisms of ovarian cancer initiation with the goal to improve prevention, early detection and treatment of ovarian cancer. Dr. Coffman’s career started with a Rising Star Grant from Tina’s Wish, and she is now a member of the Tina's Wish Scientific Advisory Board.
May, Dr. Coffman’s daughter, is a rising freshman at the University of Pittsburgh and hopes to become a genetic counselor and pursue research in public health. She is passionate about the need for genetic testing to decrease the risk of ovarian cancer and creating more ‘pre-vivors’.
Both Lan and May are walking this June in the Tina's Wish Runway for Research alongside brave ovarian cancer warriors, family members, researchers, and doctors to honor their stories and the fight against ovarian cancer. The goal of the event is to fund two Rising Star Grants, which support promising early career researchers in the early detection and prevention of ovarian cancer field
