In memory of Michael Rooney
Story
I am once again joining the RunForRoon Team in support of the Michael Rooney and Family Endowment fund with the Ottawa Heart Institute. Upon arriving in Ottawa 7 years ago, Arlene, Willow and I were introduced to the Rooney family. That led to 7 years participating in the Ottawa Race Weekend.
Michael Rooney was a patient at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute for over 15 years. Michael passed away suddenly at age 52, the outpouring of support inspired the family to establish the Michael Rooney & Family Endowment Fund.
In 2012, they started the Run for Roon as part of Ottawa Race Weekend. Since then, the team has taken part in every distance—from 2K to full marathons—all in support of the Endowment Fund.
The Fund has now reached $106,000 and continues to support vital priorities at the Heart Institute each year.
This is my 7th year and I would be once again be grateful for your support. Every step helps save lives.
