Story
Every summer, Father Andrew Gronotte, LC leads a team of missionaries to Tierra la Bomba, an island off the coast of Cartagena. Together, they visit the poor but vibrant Catholic communities, walking door to door, anointing the sick, praying with people, and consecrating them to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. They also give clothing and toys to those in need and welcome them into the loving support of the faith community.
The mission is raising money to help rebuild San Jose Church in the town of Cano de Oro. The church building had deteriorated significantly and is no longer a safe place for the community to gather and worship. Last year, we successfully raised funds to repair the front façade and stabilize the bell tower. However, additional work is still needed.
This year, our goal is to raise $35,000 to repair the roof, reinforce the walls, and refinish a room where Fr. Jhonis and other clergy can stay while serving the faithful island community.
