Story
I am very excited to have the opportunity to return to Ghana again this October with the International Needs medical team. We are once again travelling to remote villages in the Volta region to provide much needed medical care to school children and the entire community. We will be doing WHO assessments for malnutrition, providing deworming medication for entire communities, providing medical treatment for a variety of conditions, treating wounds, and providing dental care. Last year we provided 1096 consultations and saw 588 children for nutritional assessments.
We can’t do this without a lot of support. We travel as a team of approximately 12 Canadian healthcare workers and join with about 12 Ghanaian healthcare workers to form our team. We work very closely with local health units and ensure proper followup for patients that need ongoing care. The funds we raise are used to pay for all of the medications we bring, multivitamins, iron and folic acid supplements, deworming treatments, wound care supplies, and to support the team (Canadian and Ghanaian team members) costs.
I would be grateful if you would consider partnering with me to make this all possible. I am grateful for any support - through donations on my fundraising page(personal or corporate) or by donations of supplies (please contact me for specific needs).
With much love and appreciation,
~Leigh
