Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under the age of 40. In July 2020 I was diagnosed with a benign brain tumour on my right temporal lobe, however me and my mum were told if it wasn’t removed I may not see my 25th birthday. I am turning 24 this year and it is my 3rd year brain tumour free, I am finally getting to grips with learning to live with epilepsy, short term memory loss and all the trauma that came with my sudden diagnosis. However, I wouldn’t have been able to have got through my diagnosis during a pandemic if it wasn’t for the help of The Brain Tumour Charity who still show so much support today.
Having a brain tumour at any age is devastating and both benign or malignant they have such a massive impact on your life that truly never goes away. I am ready to start advocating for younger people who have survived brain tumours and now have to live with the after affects, along with the brain tumour charity and I hope you will support me on my first fundraising event in March.
if you’d like to know anymore about my story I write a blog called ‘Life low grade’ - I have linked the blog below and my Instagram is @lifelowgrade.
Lots of love,
