Story
Having attended this event as a spectator, I feel privileged to have the opportunity to participate as one of the jockeys. Cancer affects so many of us, whether directly as patients or as family and friends, and I am keen to do what I can to support the work of Macmillan Cancer Support, who are there for people when they need it most.
I am also riding in memory of my father, Michael Comerford. Taking part in this challenge feels both meaningful and fitting — not only because my dad was an independent bookmaker for a number of years and introduced me to the sport of horse racing, but also because the race takes place on the one-year anniversary of his passing in June 2025.
The journey to race day is certainly not an easy one — getting jockey-fit, early mornings, and cleaning out the stables along the way. But I am excited to take this on. It allows me to spend time with a hardworking and inspiring racing yard, to support those affected by cancer, and to remember my dad.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Any support you are able to give is very much appreciated, and if you would like to attend the event, please do let me know.
