Story
I am grateful for the opportunity to share my journey with you. In early January 2023, I woke with a stiff neck that led to two emergency operations to remove a bacterial infection pressing on my spinal cord at the C5 level. Both operations were risky, but I was fortunate. After spending 9 weeks in the hospital learning to walk again, I continue to face challenges such as balance issues, coping with sensation loss, fatigue, and vision loss related to the infection. Despite these obstacles, I am determined to regain my strength and pursue my passion for running, cycling, and swimming by participating in this Superhero Triathlon. I am delighted to support the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) as they provided invaluable support during my worst days in hospital and have continued to be important for me in learning that I am not alone. Your contribution will make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals facing similar challenges.
Please support me and my essential companion Lydia who has kindly offered to do it with me, we are the "Pocket Rockets"
