OMRA 2026 - Celebrating 25 years of being part of the lives and settlement of newcomers to Ottawa!

OMRA has been dedicated to providing monthly rental subsidies to qualifying refugees and newcomers in Ottawa, helping them find stability and a place to call home.

In 2025 alone, OMRA distributed over $210,000 in rental subsidies to more than 50 households, a testament to the power of compassion and volunteerism.

As a volunteer from 2001, I have met many courageous newcomers who want to become independent and strong members of our Ottawa community. What an honour to walk with them and learn from them.

Again this year, I am excited to participate in the Tamarack Ottawa Race on May 23rd alongside many newcomers, friends, and my family -husband, children, and six grandchildren—all walking, running, or strolling together to support this vital cause.

OMRA is run almost entirely by volunteers. OMRA offers English tutoring and creates opportunities for newcomers to experience fun Canadian activities like picnics and canoe rides on the Rideau.
