Nine years ago this month, I lost my beloved mom,. Affectionately known as “Mother Theresa” to many, she was a great mom, wife of a PGA, professional, mother, to only one son for whom the game has meant everything. One of her last wishes was that we would establish a scholarship in her name to try and help send the young lady to college each year – – some thing she was never able to do in her lifetime. So each year I play 100 holes to raise money for the Teresa J Stanovich Memorial scholarship fund. Administered by First Tee Gulf Coast, this scholarship is open to both young ladies and young gentleman, and GULF ability is not a factor – – eligibility is determined by a combination of academic achievement, and financial need.
