Story
Every year I try to take on a real personal challenge for a breast or cancer charity. This January, I’m taking on the HYROX challenge to support people living with cancer for Macmillan Cancer Support.
HYROX is a wicked fitness race that combines both running and functional fitness. I’ll be taking on a course of a 1km run followed by 1 functional workout station (like 100 wall balls 🫣), REPEATED 8 TIMES.
I am taking on this challenge with Katy Ellis, an amazing nurse consultant in breast cancer who I knew before my diagnosis, saw me during my journey and who I reconnected with at Pepper Road Fitness last year where we both said we could never manage a Hyrox! And yet….. here we are, excited but anxious!!
We have pledged to raise £400 each, which could run the Macmillan Support Line for nearly an hour. But we would like to raise so much more! MacMillan helped me after my breast cancer treatment with counselling to get back to work when the thought of working as a radiologist to diagnose others with what I had just been through felt a bit overwhelming.
There is so much need for support for those going through their cancer path or living with the diagnosis that the NHS, wonderful though it is, just cannot deliver. Charities like MacMillan are wonderful at stepping into this role and need your help!
There are currently over 3.5 million people living with cancer in the UK today. Please help me raise money for MacMillan to provide support for other people like me and you! We are all sure to need support some time in our lives and I would like to help pay it forward.
Thank you for anything you can contribute!
