My connection to Nexus Family Recovery Center is personal. As executive director of my family’s private foundation, I am deeply committed to our mission to empower youth and transform the lives of children and families in North Texas.

The Stallings Foundation is proud to be a supporter of Nexus’ Recovery Rising campaign. Our $1 million grant to Nexus Family Recovery Center is the largest in the foundation’s history. We wanted to be part of other families’ healing journeys and to support a place where mothers can commit themselves to recovery, secure in the knowledge that their children are safe and cared for, with therapists to help them work through their own trauma and rebuild family bonds.

I know this because Nexus is where I began my own recovery journey in January 2011, along with my six-month-old son. When I assumed the role of executive director of The Stallings Foundation in 2021, my family donated $10,000 to Nexus to commemorate my tenth year of sobriety and to give back some of the hope Nexus once gave me.

When I think of what it means to be #StrongLikeAMother, I think about legacy. I’m not just thinking about my own family, but yours too. I’m thinking about all of our children in North Texas. I want them to know the peace and the purpose that I’ve found.
