Every day, people in our community overcome challenges that most of us never see. Marc Nadeau is one of those people.

Marc’s mornings start quiet and early, working with Causeway’s Needle Hunters team to clean up discarded needles from public spaces across Ottawa. It’s demanding work, but Marc approaches every day with determination because he knows the difference it makes for others.

In the afternoons, Marc steps into another important role — helping children safely cross the street as a crossing guard. For the past three years, he has brought kindness, consistency, and comfort to families in the neighborhood. His commitment was recently recognized with the Ottawa Safety Council’s Employee of the Month award.

Marc’s path hasn’t been easy. After overcoming addiction, he found purpose, stability, and community through meaningful employment and the support of organizations like Causeway. Today, he is giving back in ways that make our city safer and stronger.
