Story
I am excited to share that I have joined the Board of Directors of the Wendt Center for Loss and Healing, and this summer will be my 4th year volunteering at the Wendt Center’s Camp Forget‑Me‑Not/Camp Erin DC — a free grief camp for children and their families in the DC area.
My work with Wendt is in memory of and in tribute to Matthew Fleece, my husband who died in 2004.
Since 1999, more than 1,400 children have attended Camp at no cost to them, thanks to generous donations. Please join me in making this life‑changing experience possible by donating today.
Camp offers fun activities in a supportive, healing environment for children ages 6–17 who are grieving the death of someone they love. It gives kids a safe space to be themselves, explore their feelings, and realize they are not alone.
Trained volunteers provide one‑on‑one support, and licensed therapists lead therapeutic groups tailored to each age group. Caregivers are also included, recognizing that grief touches the whole family.
