Story
Hi Everyone!
THIS IS TOP SECRET!!!!!
My name is Harper Sconsa. When I was in 8th grade when my father, Mike Sconsa, received a kidney transplant. In 2013, my dad was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease. This disease causes cysts to form on the kidney and eventually causes the kidneys to slowly go into failure. By the time he was able to receive a transplant, he had at least 40 pounds of cysts on his kidneys and his kidneys were at less than 2% function.
For my junior year passion project I chose the topic of how kidney transplants impact a body post kidney transplant. During my research, I learned many things about what happens to the recipient's body post transplant. I focused my research mainly on how immunosuppressants and rest can impact the recipients recovery. For my action, I want to raise money to be able to surprise my dad to go to the Transplant Games this upcoming summer. Ever since he received his transplant, he has talked about wanting to go to these games. I was hoping that you could help me reach my goal. Below is a little bit about Team Iowa and what your donation would go towards!
Team Iowa celebrates the gifts of organ, eye and tissue donation and encourages others to register as a donor. By competing in the Transplant Games of America we honor our donors, our donor families and celebrate life. The team consists of athletes and support members who participate in various events at the Transplant Games of America. Our athletes have received an organ, bone marrow, tissue or corneal transplant or are a living donor.
Help me and my team get to the 2026 Donate Life Transplant Games of America!
If you wish to donate with cash or check please text me at 563-231-0580! Please make check out to Team Iowa! Thanks again!!
