Story
I am deeply passionate about public healthcare that is accessible to all during critical points of our lives. I am joining Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation community for a 5k run to Celebrate Mother’s Day on May 10th, 2026. They are honouring all moms while supporting the maternity department at Chilliwack General Hospital. I will be running the race with my two kids in their stroller totalling 105lb of resistance.
Whether you’re a runner, walker, or simply looking to show your support, this event is for you! All proceeds will go towards enhancing the hospital’s maternity care and services, helping ensure the best care for new and expecting mothers. Two critical pieces of equipment needed at Chilliwack General Hospital Maternity Department are a vein viewer ($9,000) and a fetal monitor ($35,000). A vein viewer is a medical device that uses near-infrared light to project a map of a patient's veins onto their skin for easier IV insertion or blood draws. A fetal monitor keeps track of a baby's heart rate during pregnancy, labour and delivery to detect signs of distress and assess the baby's well-being.
