My first YMCA experience was at a dance at the Y when I was in high school. While living in Cincinnati I joined the Central YMCA and eventually became its Membership Director. Back in Saint Louis I swam at the Locust Street Y, danced at the Y on Loughborough and now do Zumba classes and personal training at the Carondelet branch, where I eventually became an Advisory Board member.

But the Y is far, far more than just a great gym for people like me and you. It's an organization dedicated to serving and enriching the communities in which each branch operates. And if you donate, this is where your money will go. At the Carondelet Y we:

-provide memberships for those who cannot afford it

-have an annual Back-to-School Supply Drive

-have several food drives each year

-have a Christmas Angel Tree that provides gifts for those in need

-have chronic disease prevention and healing programs for cancer survivors, Parkinson's sufferers, those with high blood pressure, seniors looking to socialize and learn, diabetes prevention and support for individuals and families in achieving balanced and fulfilling lives

-have many programs and activities for youth and teens including Sunday night mentoring, The Mobile Y, Young Men Thriving, summer day camps, cabin camping at Camp Lakewood and several swim programs that teach water safety as well as swimming

In 2024 we served 4,100+ households in need, using more than $243,000, all raised through our Annual Support Campaign.
