I am running the Bloodwise 5k to raise money to help people like my friend's Dad. My friend Maddie has been really brave as her Dad, Mark has undergone various treatments for his cancer.

Mark was diagnosed in 2022 with Multiple Myeloma and has had to have loads of grueling treatments including chemotherapy to try and fight the disease. Two and a half years ago Mark had stem cell replacement treatment and although it hasn't killed the cancer it has reduced it to a safe level, for now.

All money donated to Blood Cancer UK goes towards research into new treatments and provides opportunities for new drug and therapy trials for many patients with blood cancers like Mark.

Events like this run also help raise awareness of blood cancers as early diagnosis increases the possibility of achieving remission.
