Story
My name is Nathan Yan, a Junior at Newark Academy. Medicine is such an integral part of our society, helping save the lives of many people and improving our overall well being through its advancements. There is so much innovation in this field that can drastically increase effectiveness, but they are limited by their large price.
Money should never being a limiting factor for life-saving technology that has the potential to benefit so many. I am fundraising to allow the Overlook Foundation, a leader in the nation in nuerology, to obtain top of the line technology without worry for budget. With this Zeiss microscope, Overlook will be able to improve their surgeries, while also allowing professionals from around the nation to learn how to use this groundbreaking technology.
Below is more information from the foundation about the impact of this technology:
Some 1.5 million spine surgeries are performed each year in the United States. Here at Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center, Atlantic Neuroscience Institute is the area’s leader in neurological, neurosurgical, and neurodiagnostic care. And with our introduction of the Globus ExcelsiusGPS robotic navigation system, patients will receive the most advanced, minimally invasive spinal care available today. Add to that the Excelsius3D that makes use of fluoroscopy and intraoperative CT imaging and surgeons can count on 360-degree rotation that creates high-density 3D images, plus easy maneuverability in tight spaces. Rounding out this conflux of cutting-edge technology is the Zeiss microscope featuring the best digital visualization capabilities in the field. Spine surgery has entered a new era in which precision, safety, and efficiency define the gold standard of care.
Thank you for supporting this effort; every donation helps bring these advances to patients who need them most.
