Story
There are nearly 600,000 people in the Food Bank's service area who do not know when or where their next meal will come from. Thank you for visiting this page and joining us in our mission to end food insecurity in our community. Every dollar raised will provide 5 meals to the community in need.
15 years ago, NCSSM broke the Guinness World Record for the largest food drive in 24 hours at a single location. Since then, food insecurity has gotten worse while donations from food drives have steadily decreased. We would like to raise enough to provide 15,000 meals to help meet the need faced by the food bank.
Current NCSSM seniors, Tess Crumpton and Jay Weaver, are organizing this virtual food drive and an in-person food drive at NCSSM’s Durham campus on December 6th and 7th from 10AM to 2PM.
The team is being advised by members of the original world record food drive team including Sue Anne Lewis and Ryan O’Donnell.
