Story
In 2018 I lost my dad, the biggest role model I had, to a brain tumour. It is an agonising and upsetting process, to see someone who more often than not tended to radiate kindness and laughter, rapidly succumb to a cruel illness that robs that person of their charisma and, ultimately, their dignity. My dad deserved better than that, as do 12,000+ people in the UK alone that are diagnosed with a brain tumour each year.
Until my father died I had no idea how terribly underfunded research into brain tumours is compared to other forms of cancer and how crucial funding is to charities like The Brain Tumour Charity to their efforts in working towards finding a cure.
In March, during Brain Tumour Awareness Month, my better half and I will be taking part in The Twilight Walk. Rather than go down to London to walk a 3,5 or 10km walk with other fundraisers, we will be opting to organise our own Twilight Walk closer to home which will actually consist of several walks over the entire month and an overall goal of 130km. Our fundraising goal is £100 each and it would mean the world to us to achieve this. I know that times are tough and finances tight for all of us so it may simply not be possible, but if you can spare a few quid, even the smallest amount, then please help us to achieve our goal so we can donate a healthy sum of money to a completely worthwhile cause.
