Meet my friend John Paul Banks! He is just one example of how anyone who has the support, the community, and the drive can flourish through the Y! His diagnosis is down syndrome. However that diagnosis has been no match for the man John Paul has become! John Paul attends Zumba classes without any assistance. He knows staff and members' names and will tell you without hesitation, YOU NEED TO SMILE!

OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL, is so much more than a slogan that you see plastered throughout our facilities. It's a promise that I intend to keep as a staff, donor, and campaigner of this cause. The majority of my passion for working at the Y is centered around the chance to be a place of belonging for those who need to hear and see that someone cares for them!

South City had the pleasure of giving out over $144,000 in Financial Assistance for membership alone, in 2023. Each of those dollars ensured that any one who walked through our doors needing somewhere to belong would not be turned away due to the cost of membership!
