One year ago I discovered a lump in my breast. As the reality of my diagnosis of breast cancer became clear, I spent a lot of time at the Ottawa Hospital. In the Cancer Centre, the elevator doors were wrapped with an image of Sindy Hooper doing her Iron Man. For those that never knew of this amazing woman, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and she had a mantra of Make Every Moment Count (MEMC). That image and mantra inspired me during the months that followed to not worry about the future and live each day. I credit Sindy and her message for giving me strength and perspective as I went on to have surgery, chemo and radiation. I never got to meet her, but I always be grateful for this gift she gave me.

We are raising money in her honour and her MEMC campaign to find a cure for pancreatic cancer.
