Story
This is my story
There are approximately 150,000 Canadians living with an ostomy and I now one of them.
It has been 16 months since my surgery and I am now living a more productive life. The first part of my recovery was difficult, but I am happy to say I feel the best I’ve felt in years. My surgery basically saved my life due to advanced Crohn’s disease with severe dysplasia.
My goal is to help bring awareness, break stigmas, and give support by continuing to live an active life with my ostomy.
Thank you to my family members and friends for your support and words of encouragement ❤️
Ostomy Halifax is hosting a walk that I am very excited to participate in! October 5th at 2pm.
Thank you for taking the time to read!
Cheers and be well!

Ostomy Halifax Society is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to all people with an ostomy and their families, helping them to live life to the fullest through support, education, collaboration and advocacy.
We will be helping to raise funds to support Ostomy Canada and its mission! In Canada, there are over 150,000 individuals with ostomies. The Step Up for Ostomy campaign will support our outreach, education, advocacy and program development for those affected by an ostomy.
Thank you,

Ostomy Canada is gearing up for its 13th Step Up for Ostomy Campaign this year! Come join us on October 4, 2025, in cities, towns, parks, trails, and venues across Canada and show your support for those living with an ostomy, their friends and family. On that day we will walk, run, bike, hike, or whatever you like. Let’s all Step Up for Ostomy, to raise awareness, eliminate stigma and raise funds to help enhance Ostomy Canada Programs!
