Walk it your way!
What better way to mark Brain Tumour Awareness Month – and raise much-needed funds and awareness of brain tumours – than by walking The Twilight Walk your way in March 2024?
I have accepted the challenge to walk 140km in March
140 is the number of different types of brain tumours
Those of you who know me would say ‘Polly walking 140km over month, she can have that in the bag easily in 2 weeks!’
Well now it’s a bit more of a challenge after the last years diagnosis of 3 brain tumours, had 6weeks treatment for 1 type of brain tumour.
I have never felt so fatigued and dizzy.
With your help & support, I am determined to do this walk with the support of my lovely family & friends. 😍
If you can spare a few quid it would help no end.
Some stats
* Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40
* Over 12,000 people are diagnosed each year with a primary brain tumour, including 500 children and young people – that’s 33 people every day
* Over 5,300 people lose their lives to a brain tumour each year
* At least 88,000 children and adults are estimated to be living with a brain tumour in the UK currently
* Brain tumours reduce life expectancy by on average 27 years – the highest of any cancer
* Just 12% of adults survive for five years after diagnosis
* Research offers the only real hope of dramatic improvements in the management and treatment of brain tumours. Over £700m is spent on cancer research in the UK every year, yet less than 3% is spent on brain tumours
