Story
Project Ummah is working with 6 charities to fundraise for them. For Afghanistan, we chose to team up with the International Development and Relief Foundation (IDRF) and United for Afghanistan (U4A) to provide $100 food packages.
Why Is Afghanistan One of the Countries We’re Helping?
Afghanistan continues to face severe humanitarian challenges due to prolonged economic hardship, widespread poverty, displacement, and limited access to basic services. Food insecurity is a major challenge for vulnerable households, and during Ramadan, daily food needs increase while income opportunities remain extremely limited.
What Do Your Donations Provide?
Your donations will go towards $100 food package boxes that are designed to sustain a family of 6-7 for one month. These food packages include:
Rice – 12 kg
Flour – 20 kg
Loose leaf green tea – 1 kg
Dates – 1 kg
Red beans – 5 kg
Chickpeas – 3 kg
Lentils – 3 kg
Sugar – 2 kg
Tomato paste – 1 kg
Macaroni – 2 kg
Vegetable oil – 5 litres
Salt – 1 kg
Your support provides families with essential nutrition, protecting their health and dignity during this critical period.
How Much of the Donations Actually Go To Those In Need?
We’ve asked the same question ourselves.
Project Ummah is a 100% volunteer‑run initiative.
No salaries, no paid influencers, no admin overhead from us at all. Everything — answering messages, designing posts, organizing fundraisers — is done by volunteers for the sake of Allah.
Your donation goes to those in need, not to us.
We also didn’t choose just any charity for each country. Some organizations have extremely high administrative costs, which go against our purpose. Reputable international charities typically allocate 20–30% of their funds to essential expenses, such as logistics, compliance, and on-the-ground operations.
IDRF, however, typically charges a 10% admin fee and, Alhamdulilah, directs 90% of donations on average towards programs and helping those in need.
If you'd like, you can even see their transparency records on the official charity registry.
Now, whether you already trust us or checked their records yourself, you’re here. So...what's next?
Pitch in whatever you can and share this initiative with your friends!
When we work together, even the smallest donation can make a real difference.
*Donations of $10 CAD or more are eligible for a tax‑deductible receipt issued by IDRF*
P.S: If you donate toward the end of Ramadan, we will continue providing Ramadan food boxes even after Ramadan has ended, ensuring that every donation still reaches those in need.
