Sing 4 Stroke

Cabaret · 24 September 2024
I have decided to raise money for the Stroke Association as this is something that affects a lot of people and hits home to me. My mum suffered a stroke and I am lucky enough to still have her in my life but I know others are not so lucky. Even though she couldn’t remember my name anymore and I know nothing will ever be the same. I love her millions and I know there are so many others out there going through the pain of watching a loved one suffer from strokes.
It was so detrimental when it first happened. Affecting me daily. I couldn’t sleep due to worry, hair was falling out because of stress. I just felt so sad and low. I never had someone I cared for so deeply go through something so horrid. My mum didn’t get the help she needed straight away. That’s why I want to do this. I want to help not just raise awareness but raise my microphone to help raise that money to help others going through it.
My mum is a stroke survivor, this World Stroke Day, 29th October 2024 I will be celebrating for her and all the stroke survivors.
Some stroke survivors can have difficulties speaking after a stroke, this is known as aphasia. This can be extremely challenging, but recovery is possible.
Singing is a powerful tool in stroke recovery. This is because music and singing is processed in a different part of the brain to spoken language, some people with aphasia find that they can sing easily, even though speaking is hard.
