Story
It’s back-to-school season and YOU can help RI Healthy Schools Coalition make healthy food available for children and families.
In cities and towns across RI, there are children living in families who struggle to afford healthy food. The RI Community Food Bank provides a vital service by sourcing, storing, and distributing food to local food pantries where families can turn when their cupboards are bare. Many schools have even established food pantries and weekend backpack programs to ensure their students are nourished, healthy, and able to learn.
As part of the annual RIHSC Breakfast for School Wellness Leaders on October 16th, we are collecting donations for the RI Community Food Bank. The money we raise can be stretched further by them to purchase the most-needed and culturally relevant items by the truckload at wholesale cost, helping more families. Help us reach our goal of $1,000 by donating today!
