Inflation and the rising cost of food make it difficult for families and senior citizens to afford groceries. At least 20% of children across our area are in homes that experience food insecurity. Local food pantries that feed an average of 400 families per month are now feeding up to 1000 families. Foodbank representatives tell us that “the foodbank delivers the weight of an elephant of food every hour that we’re open, but to meet the need, it would have to be four elephants an hour.” This is where we can help. The Foodbank states the need for food increases exponentially between the months of February through August. We intend to help them in the fight to end hunger.
