Story
Access to justice and safety shouldn’t depend on how much money you have. But working at Volunteer Legal Advocates has made that belief even more personal.
Every day, I see what it means when a survivor of domestic or gender-based violence has an advocate in their corner—someone who can help them navigate the legal system, protect themselves and their children, and begin to build a safer future.
As the Executive Director of Volunteer Legal Advocates (formerly DCVLP), I’m incredibly proud of this work and of the people who make it possible. And during Domestic Violence Awareness Month this October, I’m asking my friends and community to help us keep showing up for people when they need us most.
Last year, we helped 3,200 survivors and children find safety. So I’ve set a personal goal of raising $3,200 this October—$1 for every person we helped. It’s a simple number, but behind every dollar is a person whose life was touched by our work.
With funding cuts looming and the need for our services growing, your support matters more than ever. If you’re able, please consider donating and helping us make sure that no survivor or child has to navigate the legal system—and the path to safety—alone.
$3,200 for 3,200 people. ❤️
Thank you for believing in this work with me.
