Hi! My name is Sarah Clevenger, and I go to the Pingry School. I'm extremely grateful to be representing my school as a part of the Overlook Foundation Junior Board, a group that raises money each year for a grant that goes to a specific part of the hospital. I joined the board because of my passion for medicine, but also because I wanted to give back to the community at Overlook that has given so much to me throughout my medical journey. The board gives me the opportunity to learn about how much philanthropy truly supports hospitals, patients, doctors, and families, and I have been lucky enough to see firsthand how people's donations truly do improve the lives of so many. And so this year, we wanted to achieve these effects by dedicating our fundraising to the Neurology Center!

Some 1.5 million spine surgeries are performed each year in the United States. At Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center, Atlantic Neuroscience Institute is the area’s leader in neurological, neurosurgical, and neurodiagnostic care. We are raising money for a robotic navigation system, called Globus ExcelsiousGPS, that would allow patients to receive the most advanced, minimally invasive spinal care available today. In addition, the Excelsius 3D, which uses fluoroscopy and intraoperative CT imaging, provides surgeons with the tools to count on 360-degree rotation that would create high-density 3D images, plus easy maneuverability in tight spaces. Finally, to round out this conflux of cutting-edge technology, the Zeiss microscope features the best digital visualization capabilities in the field. With these technologies, spine surgery has entered a new era in which precision, safety, and efficiency define the gold standard of care. This technology would help improve the lives and surgeries of many neurology patients.
