Story
As many of you know I was diagnosed in May of 2025 at 35 with triple negative breast cancer (TNBC). I am still in treatment receiving immunotherapy. I went through biopsies, scans, 16 chemo infusions over 20 weeks and major surgery.
I was well aware cancer could happen to me but I was shocked when it did. Even the midwife at my doctor's office who sent me for the mammogram said, "You're so young, it's probably nothing serious." She even went as far as to mention breast cancer typically happens to women after menopause. I laid there getting my first biopsy talking to the doctor about my summer plans! Needless to say they didn't quite go as planned.
Breast cancer is scary. No one should have to experience everything that comes along with it. I don't have the means to donate a lot to the research going into TNBC. I do what I can when I can. That's why I decided to make this page to try to help advance the research into TNBC.
I'll end with some TNBC facts:
- Chemotherapy has been shown to be the most effective treatment for triple-negative breast cancer.
- Several studies suggest that being premenopausal or of African ancestry increases your risk of developing basal-like or triple-negative breast cancer.
- The risk of recurrence outside of the breast is highest in the first five years after treatment.
