Sean runs Llanelli half marathon for Cancer Research Wales

Llanelli Half Marathon · 24 September 2023
Hi, Sean here.
I started properly running this year. Call it a midlife crisis, or an attempt to not be a chungus. Aside from a 5k fun run when I was a kid, I've never run an event before. So of course I'm doing a half-marathon as my first big run!
The people who know me will know that I lost my father almost 30 years ago to cancer, and the number of people I know who've been affected by cancer easily goes into double figures. So as much as things are getting better, there is more to be done to improve diagnosis, treatments and care.
If you're wondering "But Sean, you're English and live in London - why Wales?" Well, firstly that's a bad attitude, shut your mouth. But also, why not? Aside from the fact I'll be running alongside my band's trained Welshie, I've always been a big fan of spending time with our friends west of the border - and as they're accommodating my attempt to sod about waddle-jogging for just over 21km in hopefully under two hours and thirty minutes, it would be rude not to give something back.
I'm happy to support Cancer Research Wales - their work is putting Wales on the map as a place of innovation and research, while changing the lives of cancer patients. I'm hoping for your support too, thanks for reading!
