Story
Every day, most of us move through the world without thinking twice about it. We climb stairs, open doors, cross busy streets, access public spaces, and participate in our communities with relative ease.
For many Canadians living with disabilities, those same everyday activities can present barriers that are impossible to ignore. Something as simple as entering a building, navigating transportation, or accessing recreation programs can require extra planning, support, or accommodation.
That's one of the reasons I'm participating in Easter Seals Drop Zone.
By stepping outside my comfort zone and rappelling down the side of a building, I'm helping raise awareness and support for Easter Seals' work to create a more inclusive and accessible world. Accessibility isn't just about ramps and elevators—it's about ensuring everyone has the opportunity to fully participate in their community, pursue their goals, and live with dignity and independence.
As the MP for Halifax, I believe that building stronger communities includes removing barriers wherever they exist. Easter Seals helps make that possible by supporting people with disabilities and advocating for greater inclusion in every aspect of life.
I'm proud to support this important cause and to help shine a light on the challenges many people face every day—challenges that too often go unseen by those of us who don't experience them ourselves.
