Story
As a little girl, You could often find me sitting on the bench during PE, when all my sighted classmates were doing everything I was excluded from enjoying, because I was blind, and in my particular world back then and there, none of us had ever heard of adaptive sports. My life wasn’t totally devoid of exercise and outdoor activities, but I always wanted more than what was available.
Fast forward to last fall, when I relocated to Oregon, and I immediately joined NWABA, where all of a sudden, I was kayaking, hiking, tandem biking, snowshoeing and running. NWABA provides transportation, and they recruit great guides !Last winter, I even learned to downhill ski through NWABA, and in August, I completed my first sprint triathlon with Monica guiding me, swimming, cycling and running. Who knew I could actually swim a half mile in the Columbia River, and without NWABA, I may never have had the opportunity to try.
This is why I am asking you to support NWABA and its empowering mission with your financial gift. I and many others will very much appreciate this support, no matter how large or small, which will allow us to continue enjoying and benefiting from NWABA’s life affirming activities.
