Sian and Emma's fundraiser for Diabetes UK

Sian Aitken is raising money for Diabetes UK

London Landmarks Half Marathon 2025 · 6 April 2025 ·

A fun, quirky Half Marathon through London's iconic Landmarks on Sunday 6th April 2025.

Story

Hi guys, please help me and Emma raise some money for Diabetes UK.

We are both running the London Landmark Half in memory of my brother David. Some of you who know me (Sian) will know that during my first year of university, I lost my twin brother David very suddenly due to diabetic complications. Our birthday is on the 5th of April and this year and I chose to run this race as it falls the day after our birthday and of course I can’t do anything without my partner in crime so Emma will be setting the pace with me too!

Dave hated running so this is hardly something that he would have approved of but after concentrating on just getting through a tough Cambridge degree for the past three years I have decided that this year is the year that I raise some money in memory of him for diabetes UK. Dave was a kind and funny guy and I am so sad that so many of the closest people in my life will never get to meet my twin but I hope that in doing this event I will be able to share his memory more.

Someone is diagnosed with Diabetes every two minutes and 5 million people are living with Diabetes in the UK right now. That means that we all probably know someone impacted by the condition and many more of us may be affected by diabetes in the future. If you could spare the price of a coffee, or even forgo your 4 for £10 vk's this weekend in the club to help support me and Diabetes UK we will be hugely grateful. We have a target set but the more money the better to help fund some research into diabetes treatments, and also support for those living with diabetes to help prevent other families from going through what mine has.

Thank you so much in advance !!
