Running the London Marathon 2024 for Sands in memory of my daughter Anna.

London Marathon 2024 · 21 April 2024 ·
I’m running the 2024 London Marathon in memory of my beautiful daughter Anna, who was stillborn on 26th March 2019. She was tiny and beautiful and she made me a Mum. She should have been 5 this year.
I can’t thank Sands and it’s volunteers enough for the support, love and understanding they have given me since Anna died. From the first few unimaginable days after her birth where the information booklets we were given in the hospital lead me to the Sands website where reading stories of others helped me feel much less alone. To a few months later attending the West London Sands bereavement support groups where I felt truly held in a space where I felt understood. Through to the pregnancy after loss support group which supported me so very much when I was pregnant again, Sands has been a lifeline for me.
Now, 5 years on, I help run the West London Sands Pregnancy After Loss support group to help support parents in the way that I was.
West London Sands (and all the other regional groups though out the country) are completely run by volunteers, bereaved parents who are desperately trying to support other parents in surviving the loss of their babies.
These groups which are vital to so many and all the work that Sands does to fund research into babyloss to help reduce the numbers of babies dying and bring babyloss onto the governmental policy agenda could not happen without the funds raised by its supporters.
