University Settlement is helping new arrivals and immigrants succeed in their new home just as we have done since the very beginning.

We are enrolling children in our early childhood and afterschool programs, helping families find housing, offering free adult English literacy classes, and so much more.

Currently, almost 50% of the children enrolled at the Early Childhood Center are new New Yorkers. More than 1,000 people hope to get one of the 450 slots in our Adult English Literacy classes. And, in 8 months, one Family Advocate worker alone partnered with 190 asylum-seeking families to access social services including the health and mental health care system, the education system, immigration system, and welfare systems like Medicaid, cash assistance and food stamps.

These are among the many reasons that for a second consecutive year, Alyce and I will match the first $10K in gifts from our friends, family, or colleagues.
