Sydney's fundraiser for Overlook Foundation

Hi! My name is Sydney Urbach and I am a junior at Morristown Beard School. This year I was presented with an incredible opportunity for me to contribute to my community as a member of the Overlook Medical Center Junior Board. The Junior Board’s primary goal is to raise funds through various initiatives, with the intention of directing these resources towards a specific department within the hospital. Our determined group unanimously voted to allocate all the funds we raise to support the growth and enhancement of the Stacy Goldstein Breast Center.
Having always held a deep appreciation for this hospital and the remarkable efforts of its medical professionals, I was very fortunate to be given the opportunity to gain both experience and knowledge of the processes that occur behind the scenes that makes all of this possible.
Timely access to breast exams and intervention is critical to the ever-growing number of patients seeking screening and diagnostic procedures. While one in eight women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime, 65% of cases are diagnosed at the localized stage, leading to a 5-year survival rate of 99%.
Expansion of the Stacy Goldstein Breast Center at Overlook will provide significantly increased capacity for screening and diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasounds and biopsies. Renovations are being made to waiting areas, consultation spaces, and procedure rooms; next-generation ultrasound and mammography machines are being added; and the center’s medical team is poised to play a leading role in advancing education, research, and treatment surrounding breast health.
