Teddy's story: My name is Teddy and I'm three years old. Last year, my tummy hurt really bad. Mama and Daddy took me to the hospital. And I had to ride in an ambulance. But they wouldn't even let me drive! At the hospital I was really scared. The doctors took my appendix out. And I had a needle in my arm. It hurt, but I was very brave. The doctors and nurses were really nice to me. My favorite part was playing with the toys and having fun Thank you for making me feel better! Please help other kids feel better too.

From Teddy's parents: When we came to St. John's, we were terrified. Our little two year old was complaining of belly pain and had spiked a dangerously high temperature. It was heartbreaking to see him in pain. We were sent immediately to the Pediatric ICU, where we were welcomed like family - with every doctor and nurse caring for Teddy with love and care. They understood that we were scared, and explained the reasoning behind every test and what they were looking for. It was discovered that his appendix was the issue, and he was scheduled for surgery. The surgery went well, but the appendix had already burst and infection was a concern.

We stayed in the PICU for several days, moved to Intermediate Care, then the general care. Each room was surrounded by the kindest nurses and staff you could hope for.

Every decision was explained, every question was answered, and were always kept well informed on Teddy's care and progress.
