SIA (Spinal Injuries Association) overseas cycle challenge 2025 - Venice to Bologna

Teresa Flowers is raising money for Spinal Injuries Association
Our 11th overseas cycle will be in Italy this year, the team will be pedalling 326km from Venice to Bologna to raise money for SIA

Story

Imagine waking up one day and realising you’ll never walk again. For thousands of people living with spinal cord injuries, this is their reality. Simple tasks we often take for granted—getting dressed, making a cup of tea, or even hugging a loved one—become monumental challenges.

Thankfully, the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) is there to help provide access to advice, support, care, and friendship. But this all costs money - a lot of money. And this is where fundraising comes in.

In May, I will be taking part in the 'Adriatic to Apennine' - SIA Overseas Cycle 2025 challenge, cycling 326km over 3 days between Venice and Bologna in Italy. I will be joining approximately 40 other riders, including riders with spinal cord injuries.

For me, this is a serious challenge. Whilst I do own a bike, I am definitely not a cyclist. The furthest I've ever cycled is 40 km and that quite a few years ago! I am hoping that the camaraderie of the trip will get me to the end (that and the promise of a bowl of pasta and an Aperol Spritz!).

By supporting me on this challenge with a goal of £1,800, you’re helping the SIA to provide life-changing services—from expert advice and peer support to campaigning for better care and opportunities. You’re giving people their independence back.

Thank you for your generosity and support!
